Boyce has released the interim results of its annual Australian Cotton Comparative Analysis, providing growers with an early benchmark of farm performance ahead of planning for the 2027 cotton season. The report has been produced by Boyce since the mid-1980s and is widely regarded as the industry benchmark for the economics of irrigated cotton production in Australia.
The 2026 interim analysis shows average farm operating profit of $2,854 per hectare and average farm net profit of $2,005 per hectare, based on preliminary results from a sample of participating growers. Average cotton yields reached 13.27 bales per hectare, highlighting another strong season for many cotton businesses.
Publishing the interim results before planting begins for the 2027 crop gives growers an opportunity to compare their performance against industry benchmarks and begin preparing budgets for the season ahead. The final report will be released once all participant data has been collected and analysed.
The report provides valuable insight into the drivers of profitability across the cotton industry and helps growers identify opportunities to improve business performance. It continues to play an important role in supporting informed decision-making and benchmarking across Australian cotton enterprises.
