Kathy Kelly - Director
Kathy Kelly joined the Cooma branch of Boyce in November 1985 from Ernst & Young’s audit division. Immediately, she assumed responsibility for the branch audits as well as taking a supervisory role on the larger audits of the other branches.
As is characteristic, Kathy was quickly recognised as leadership material and was appointed as a Director of the firm in 1989. At the same time Kathy embarked on a personal journey into motherhood and is the proud mother of two children.
Kathy was instrumental in establishing the firm’s specialist tax consulting division which provides high-level tax advice to clients across all Boyce offices as well as internal support and tax training for our team.
Kathy is the firm’s lead auditor and holds various appointments from large public offer agricultural companies and trusts through to the local community organisations in the towns in which we live and support.
It is an unusual combination to have a passion for both tax and audit but these combined skills give great value to audit clients where tax issues are quickly identified and to small businesses and farms where Kathy’s analytical skills are put to use in the identification of issues of concern.
Kathy has a passion for assisting small businesses and farmers particularly in regard to their business development, tax structuring and planning.
In recent years Kathy has held various appointments including advising the Federal Government in regard to the practical implications of legislation and ‘red tape’ in small business and as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Federal Government's R&D Tax Incentive. She has found it rewarding to be a voice for clients in the political landscape.
Kathy is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and is also a Registered Company Auditor. She continues to act in a number of executive roles in community groups in Cooma.
