In recognition of her dedication both in her commitment to clients and also as a leader in Boyce, Kate Garrett has been appointed as a Director.
Kate was raised on a property in the Northern Riverina and relocated to Wagga Wagga for high school and university studies. Kate started a cadetship in the Wagga Wagga office in 2003, which enabled her to gain valuable on the job experience in a professional practice environment while completing a double degree in Business (Accounting) and Information Technology at Charles Sturt University. Kate recently had the opportunity to relocate with her family to the Goulburn office.
From starting her career as a cadet in 2003, Kate is now the 6th female Director currently working with Boyce Chartered Accountants. “The company is unique, Kate said. “The size, client base, and large regional presence mean it has a diverse service offering, and that provides so many opportunities.
“Many recent graduates feel the same way; they see all the benefits of regional life, and don’t believe their career would be limited by not following what used to be considered the necessary steps of working at one of the “big four” in a capital city.”
Boyce Managing Director Phil Alchin congratulated Kate on her appointment as Director, noting that she was the inaugural recipient of the “Tony Quirk Employee of the Year” award in 2008 which recognised her work ethic, genuine care for clients and contribution to the Wagga office.
“There are many qualities which help this company retain its edge, and that includes a serious commitment to giving all people an opportunity to achieve all they can, including effectively owning and running their own business which is what being a director does,” Phil said.
Kate has been involved in a number of community organisations including the Amie St Clair Melanoma Trust and various sporting groups. Outside of work, Kate has two small children that keep her active and is a keen netballer.
