Small Business Super Clearing House joins ATO Online Services

Small Business Super Clearing House joins ATO Online Services

19 December 2017

The ATO have announced that in early 2018 they will be adding the Small Business Super Clearing House (SBSCH) to their online services. It will be a simple to use system which will be avaiable to any business currently using the business portal. The Super Cleaing House is for business' with 19 or less employees, or an aggregate turnover of less than $10 million.

The Business Portal is a quick and easy system which businesses can use for lodgement and their business reporting.

Getting Started

To get started with the ATO Business Portal first you will need to have an active ABN and Auskey. The Auskey will be unique for each person in the business who wishes to log in and access the portal. The process is to apply for an AusKeyrelatively simple, and it will be linked to your business' ABN. Once an Administrator's Auskey is registered they can then register other users to have their own Auskey. We recommend only a business owner registers the Administrator key, and then invites bookkeepers and staff with non-administrative keys.

It is best to install the Chrome AusKey extension (available on Mac as well) to avoid issues with Java on your computer. See more here.

Services

The Business Portal allows business owners to prepare and lodge their own activity statements directly to the ATO, as well as manage their accounts and registration details. They can also use the Business Portal to send and receive correspondence with the ATO. The addition of the SBSCH to the online portal means that this will be a more rounded service which Business owners can log in to and manage all their reporting requirements.
