Dynamic Business Technology on 'Fast 50' List
9 December 2013
Nathan Franks, CEO of Dynamic Business Technologies, happily admits that for his first six years in business he was so focused on the day to day operations of running his business, he didn’t spend any time thinking about where it was heading.
“It was the old adage; I was working in, but not on my business” said Nathan.
“So I decided to get serious and focus on efficiency and growth”.
It has been a stunning turnaround with Dynamic Business Technologies recently named as a “Fast 50” business by specialist IT publication CRN (Computer Re-Seller Network).
Dynamic Business Technologies is a business to business IT company that provides assistance to small and medium sized enterprises. Their services cover the full range of IT services including virtual CIO (Chief Information Officer) services, hardware and software solutions, and hands on support with upgrades and training.
The business has grown from just six employees in November 2012 to currently employ 15 people. The turnover for the first quarter of this financial year has already exceeded the total turnover from 2012. Nathan credits much of this change to a discussion he had with Boyce Dubbo director, Scott Christian in mid-2012.
“Scott basically counselled me that I either had to get serious about being in business or do something else,” said Nathan.
“I then realised that I had to transition from being purely an IT engineer to become a CEO.”
Nathan accepted the challenge and Dynamic Business Technologies now provides IT solutions and support to a wide range of businesses in the Newcastle, Central Coast and Hunter regions of NSW, as well as a small number of businesses from as far afield as Melbourne and Brisbane.
Nathan said the Boyce management accounting approach, and the use of Boyce developed Management Insight (management reporting software) has enabled him to successfully manage the rapid growth that Dynamic Business Technologies has experienced.
“I know exactly where the business is up to from a financial perspective every month and Management Insight enables me to rapidly identify the important data to make informed business decisions.”
2013 is the first year that Dynamic Business Technologies entered the CRN Fast 50 survey and came in at a very credible 36th on the list – a fantastic achievement for a business that has reinvented itself within a twelve month period. Nathan is already thinking ahead and is hoping for a top 10 finish in 2014.
