Cooma Accountant Excels
4 June 2014
Boyce Cooma employee Iain Elliott (pictured at right with Boyce Director, Jono Forrest) is celebrating a rare feat in accounting terms having topped not just the State but the entire country in the “Financial Accounting and Reporting” module of the CA Program, the accounting industry’s post-graduate course.
Boyce Cooma Director, Julie Schofield, said that the firm is very proud of Iain’s achievements.
“The entire Boyce team is in awe of Iain’s fantastic results - not only for what he has achieved in this module but right the way through what is a very exacting course,” said Julie.
“Anyone who has attempted the CA program knows how tough it is and for Iain to achieve at this level is a very significant accomplishment.”
Having completed his schooling at Monaro High, Iain went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University in Canberra in 2010. He joined Boyce as a Graduate Accountant in 2011 and then in order to be accepted into the CA program, had to complete a bridging course through Deakin University.
Iain has one further module to complete before he graduates as a qualified chartered accountant.
Iain has a particular interest in working with the firm’s many rural clients and has quickly developed excellent farm accounting skills.
As well as a busy study program, Iain successfully manages a challenging accounting role with Boyce. He relishes the opportunities to visit clients on-site to help develop a deeper understanding of their farming enterprises.
It would seem that with such a demanding work and study schedule that Iain would have little time to focus on other activities, sport is however very important to him. He plays soccer for the Cooma Tigers, is a keen cricketer and being a local lad, he is also a passionate snow skier. Iain has spent many days on the slopes of Thredbo and has ventured to Japan and more recently to Jackson Hole in the US in pursuit of the perfect run.
Work and life balance is an important part of the culture of Boyce Chartered Accountants.
“Iain has worked very hard to achieve this outstanding result whilst being able to maintain a good work life balance, which I believe is a testament to his remarkable character – we are fortunate to have him as part of the Boyce team,” Julie said.
