Farmers in North West NSW battling extreme dry conditions for 18 months will receive additional assistance from the NSW Government via a package of emergency in-drought support measures.
The Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner and Minister for Primary Industries Katrina Hodgkinson announced the NSW Government has allocated $7.6 million to fund emergency support measures for the Bourke, Brewarrina and Walgett local government areas, including:
- Up to $20,000 for transport assistance reimbursement, backdated to 1 July 2013;
- Up to $30,000 for emergency water infrastructure grants, which the Commonwealth Government has indicated it will match;
- Additional funding for the Rural Support Worker program and a drought incident co-ordinator;

If you are a sheep or beef cattle farmer in NSW you may be eligible to claim up to $2,000 to help your business become smarter and safer.
WorkCover NSW is offering the rebate as part of a special promotion for eligible farmers on items purchased between 1 October 2013 and 31 May 2014 to implement safety solutions.
To be eligible for the program you must meet operate a sheep and/or beef cattle enterprise as a sole trader or employ 50 or fewer employees.
WorkCover will rebate from an approved list of safety solutions aimed at increasing safety when working with livestock or tractors and in reducing exposure to sun and noise.

Three months after the announcement by the federal government, NSW farmers are now able to access concessional loans of up to $650,000 as part of the Farm Finance Package.
The Concessional Loans Scheme is designed to assist farm businesses experiencing debt-servicing difficulties but that are considered financially viable in the longer term, by providing immediate, short-term assistance.
