Small Business Super Clearing House joins ATO Online Services

The ATO have announced that in early 2018 they will be adding the Small Business Super Clearing House (SBSCH) to their online services. It will be a simple to use system which will be avaiable to any business currently using the business portal. The Super Cleaing House is for business' with 19 or less employees, or an aggregate turnover of less than $10 million.

The Business Portal is a quick and easy system which businesses can use for lodgement and their business reporting.

In the past month a significant vulnerability was discovered in the most commonly used type of secure wifi.

Dubbed “KRACKAttack”, it allows someone on the same wifi network as you to gain access to your information by replaying the security keys exchanged between your computer and the wifi modem. All modern wifi networks are at risk.

The attacker can potentially steal credit card numbers, passwords, email or chat messages or inject malware or ransomware into websites as you are downloading them.

Ransomware is a type of malware (malicious software) that aims to forcibly extract money from you in return for their services usually by removing viruses. Ransomware is an increasing threat to your security on the internet. Original ransomware programs would tell you that you had a virus and that their program would remove it for you - for a fee of course! In reality, you didn’t have the virus, but you did have an infection of ransomware causing the messages.

More recently, a new threat called Cryptolocker acts by being downloaded onto your computer via clicking on insecure links, websites and emails causing it to encrypt (lock) all data on your computer, including any attached drives such as network drives, backup drives, cameras and USB thumb drives.
