Boyce Directors assist children with disabilities
28 September 2010
Boyce Wagga Director, Linda Mackellar and Lindsay Garnock, Director of Boyce Financial Services, are part of a group of ten business professionals who have banded together to form a networking group with a difference.
The aim of the group, known as Wagga Business NetworX, is to make a positive contribution to the local community and in particular to the lives of children with disabilities.
The networking group organises various functions throughout the year to raise funds to support local disability service provider, Kurrajong Waratah, to provide an accommodation service for children with disabilities.
The funds raised by Wagga Business Networx also assist Kurrajong Waratah to each year take a group of children on the holiday of a lifetime.
This year the children and their carers travelled to the Victorian High Country for a week at a farm stay. The children experienced differing modes of transport, food, animals and lots of new and exciting experiences. Some months on the children are still recounting stories from their holiday and proudly showing the photo album the staff very thoughtfully put together for each participant.
Whilst the children certainly had a wonderful time, it’s also their parents and siblings who benefit by the support provided by Wagga Business NetworX. The gift to them is a welcome respite from the full-time care of their children.
Wagga Business NetworX members are making a real and lasting difference to the lives of children with a disability. The group has to date raised more than $80,000 for Kurrajong Waratah’s children's services.
