Boyce announces new chairman

1 July 2015

The directors of Boyce Chartered Accountants are delighted to announce the appointment of Mike Willis as the firm’s independent chairman.

Having commenced his working life in the finance industry, Mike brings to Boyce his considerable experience both at a senior executive and board level. In his current role as a senior advisor for Effective Governance, Mike works closely with companies and organisations on the development of strategies and providing advice on corporate governance, risk and corporate sustainability.

Prior to that Mike was the executive director of the Presbyterian & Methodist Schools Association based in Brisbane, an organisation which operates four leading independent schools in Queensland with over 950 employees and is responsible for the education of more than 5,000 students annually.

Mike has also served as a director and chairman of an ASX listed company in the finance industry, as the CEO of Anglicare Aged Care (a residential and community aged care service in south-east Queensland with 730 staff), and as the founding CEO of AnFin leading the establishment of a successful treasury function for Anglican schools and agencies.

The role of independent chairman is an important part of the firm's governance structure with responsibility to advance the interests and cohesiveness of the leadership group and provide independent advice, counsel, and guidance for directors and staff.

Boyce Managing Director, Phil Alchin, said that the directors were thrilled to be able to attract someone of the calibre of Mike to the role.

“Mike has had a very impressive career in senior positions both at the executive and board level and will bring a high degree of expertise and capability to our firm” said Phil.

Mike will take up the position in July and one of his first duties will be to visit the five Boyce offices in Cooma, Dubbo, Goulburn, Moree and Wagga Wagga.
