Accessing Online Government Services with MyGovID

The authentication method to access government systems is changing for any individual or business with an ABN from the end of March 2020. The new system is called MyGovID and will be used to access online services such as the Business Portal.

Despite having until the end of March to organise this change, it is recommended this be organised as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition. Should issues occur, this will allow you enough time to resolve before your current login method is discontinued.

If you have slightly different names across different forms of identification, please be aware this may cause you issues. There have been cases where people have to reapply for identification which can take an excessive amount of time.

Bushfire Assistance: Further Funding Announced

Earlier this week, we provided information regarding the $15,000 Disaster recovery grants available through RAA NSW.

The Government has now released information regarding the new Special Disaster Grant, which provides funding of up to $75,000 for primary producer’s affected by NSW bushfires that have occurred since 31 August 2019. To see if you are in an eligible area, click here.

This grant is provided to assist primary producers directly affected by the fires and the costs associated with immediate recovery to rebuild primary production enterprises.

Please note, applications must be lodged by 31 July 2020.

Primary producers who have had an application approved for the $15,000 Disaster Recovery grant, are still eligible to apply for the Special Disaster Grant. Any amount already claimed will count towards the total amount you are able to claim.

Government Supported Funding and Services 

Department of Human Service

The Australian Government has set up support for people affected by bushfires. For further information on the support available and breakdown by state click this link.

Financial assistance is available for those affected by the NSW Bushfires from August 2019 to January 2020. There is a Disaster Recovery Allowance and the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment. Further information on this assistance can be found here.

Bushfire Assistance

For more than three months, much of Australia has been devastated by bushfires. Further, much of the country also continues to be devastated by ongoing drought.  As a consequence, many individuals and businesses may receive assistance from the Government, insurance, or other sources.

During this difficult time we are doing all that we can to assist our impacted clients. We encourage you to contact your nearest Boyce office. Some of the matters we can assist you with include cash flow management, insurance claims, potential access to funding and liaising with the ATO.

Over the coming weeks we will be providing information and updates to support as best we can.

ATO Deferrals

The Australian Tax Office has granted automatic deferrals for lodgements and payments due for identified impacted postcodes. There is no need to apply for these deferrals.

If you have been affected by this disaster and your postcode in not currently in the identified impacted postcodes list, you can call the Emergency Support Infoline for support 1800 806 218. The ATO have reassured those impacted not to worry and to contact them when you are ready.
