Meet the team - Hannah Boland from Moree

4 December 2019

Name: Hannah Boland

Role: Manager, based in Boyce Moree.

1. What sparked your interest in a career with Boyce?

I love living in rural communities, so the fact that Boyce had multiple regional office locations in NSW was a big drawcard for me. I grew up in Yeoval, NSW, a small town in the Central West, so finding a job in Financial Services in a place like Moree was my goal.

2.  Describe your path to securing your current role?

In 2006 I was in my last year at the University of New England in Armidale studying a Bachelor of Financial Administration and I applied for a Graduate Accountant position at the Boyce Moree office. I secured the role and a few years later was promoted to the role of Accountant. I am now a Manager, so working for Boyce has been great for my career progression.

3. What do you love about your job?

I love working with my clients; assisting them to best understand their financial position and make informed decisions is really rewarding. The drought has been challenging for lots of people in this community including our clients. It is in times like these that one of our Boyce core values of care for clients truly shines through; our clients need our support now more than ever.

4. What do you love about living and working in Moree?

It’s exciting to be working in a highly productive agricultural community where technology is always changing and our clients are always challenging the norm.

5. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time outside of work hours?

Outside work hours I am raising two young children with my husband. I’m also currently the President of the Moree Picnic Race Club, so there is always plenty of planning and collaboration with the Committee as the annual race weekend approaches each May.

Meet the team - Mitch Webb from Goulburn

17 November 2019

Meet Mitch Webb, an Accountant in our Goulburn office.

1.      What sparked your interest in a career with Boyce?

Word-of-mouth around Goulburn has always been very positive about Boyce. I was near the completion of a Bachelor of Accounting at The University of Canberra when I heard about the possibility of a role at Boyce Goulburn. I had six interviews in total as the team was trying to determine the best-fit role for me. I ended up completing my degree on a Friday and starting at Boyce as a Graduate Accountant on the Monday!

2.      What do you love about your job?

I am just about to celebrate my first anniversary with Boyce, having started in November 2018. I am really enjoying the social aspect of the firm, it’s a great team environment. I also find the puzzle of tax planning challenging and rewarding. Some of our clients are primary producers and the current drought is having implications on their business. It’s feels good to be able to assist them with their tax and take away that stress for them.

3.      What do you love about living and working in Goulburn?

I’m originally from Sydney, but I have been living in Goulburn for a few years now. I was travelling to Canberra for Uni several days a week while I was studying. I like the fact that Goulburn is a country town with lots of friendly people, but it’s also close to major cities like Sydney and Canberra. I often head to Canberra on the weekend to catch-up with Uni friends and it only takes me an hour to get there.

4.      What do you enjoy doing in your spare time outside of work hours?

I love going to the gym and I compete in bodybuilding competitions. In 2018 I won the Australian Novice Bodybuilding Championship. I am currently starting to prepare for my next competition in 2020. I feel like a have a really positive work/life balance. I love my job and my sessions in the gym, so things have really fallen into place for me.

1. What sparked your interest in applying for a job with Boyce?

Word of mouth about Boyce as an employer in Dubbo has always been really positive, so when I saw a job on Seek with them I was very keen to apply. I have been with Boyce for six months now and I feel I am getting a very well-rounded experience. I work in the Technology Team, who oversees the technology infrastructure that the Boyce teams use. 3. What role do you think financial services plays in regional communities, particularly in times of drought?

Being in drought seems to have brought the community in Dubbo together. Everyone is very keen to shop locally and support local businesses whenever possible.

4. What do you love about living and working in Dubbo?

I enjoy spending time on the walking trails that are around Dubbo. I was born and bred here, so I am really excited to have landed a great role in my local town.

I practice martial arts and I have a black belt.
