Ten questions with Moree director Paul ‘Fish’ Fisher

From his annual summer holidays at Manly beach, to plaiting leather whips and belts - we take a look at Paul’s childhood memories, important lessons learned in life and quirky habits. 

1.  What are three words to describe you? Energetic, Easily and Distractible.  

2.  What is your favourite childhood memory? Our annual family summer holidays at Manly beach, quickly followed by three weeks in the shearing shed to even things up! 

3.  What is the best advice you ever received? Get stuck into what you enjoy early, learn all you can about it and stay with it for a long time.

4.  What was the most important thing you learned in school? 1) How to blow smoke rings. 2) Don’t change sports from cricket to basketball when your mother is half way through knitting you a cricket jumper.   

5.  What is one goal, either personal or professional, that you would like to accomplish during your lifetime? Catch a 10 pound brown trout on a 5 pound flyline leader in New Zealand (then turn it into patè).

6.  What was the last book you read? Two at once -‘The Secret Lives of Somerset Maugham’ (a biography) by Selina Hastings. ‘On Human Bondage’ by Somerset Maugham. A very interesting individual and the most famous writer in the world (in his time).Sort of like Kim Kardashian, but with a brain!  

7.  Do you have a talent, hobby or interest that would surprise people? I can plait leather whips and belts.

8.  What is one piece of technology you can’t live without? My giant slide rule. It hangs on the wall in my kitchen and, although I have no idea how to use it, it reminds me (every day) that change is constant.

9.  What is one unique or quirky habit that you have? 1) Twirling a pen around my finger. 2) The way I dress. A team member in the Goulburn office called my Uncle recently and said that ‘Paul is a great person, but has absolutely no dress sense!’ Harsh but true!     

10.  Finish this sentence - Boyce to me is… Being part of a big family who are privileged to work with regional clients, assisting them to reach their personal and financial goals.
