Denis Reeves, the head of the firm’s IT Division, commenced with Michael Boyce & Co in early 1988. He started in the Moree office which was ‘home’ to Denis as he had completed his final three and half years of schooling in the town.
After completing school, Denis initially sought to join the defence force but he had a change of heart after meeting with Tony Long and Richard Cummins of Michael Boyce & Co. This meeting resulted in Denis being appointed as a “trainee accountant” in the firm’s Moree office.
It was fortuitous that at the time that Denis commenced with Boyce, computers were beginning to emerge as the technology of the future.
Denis displayed great aptitude and passion for computers and it was not long before the Directors recognised that this was the area where his skills would be best utilised.
Denis is highly regarded in the industry and was appointed as an Associate Director of the firm in January 2005.
In the late 1980’s Boyce had four personal computers, two in Cooma and one each in Dubbo and Moree – today there are close to 200 computers across the firm.
An aptitude for technology ensured Denis was instrumental in the development of the Boyce Computer Cashbook which was so successful that some 450 clients used this program until the introduction of GST resulted in its demise.
Denis spent his first nine years with Boyce in Moree but travelled extensively to other offices and to visit clients during the days of Boyce Business Systems (BBS).
In February 1997 Denis relocated to the Cooma office of Boyce where he spent the next 8 years before relocating with is family in July 2005 to Wagga Wagga – home of the sixth Boyce branch.
The contribution Denis has made to the firm and to clients has been invaluable as he combines an excellent knowledge of accounting with highly developed skills in technology.
